What is MUN?
At more than 100 Model United Nations conferences a year, student delegates throughout the United States assume the role of diplomatic representatives to the UN and consider items from their agenda. Each school is assigned several nations and committees, which it distributes among its delegates. Each delegate must then prepare to represent their assigned nation’s position on the issue that their committee will discuss.
What makes HBHS MUN special?
Founded in 1972, HBHS MUN is a four-year honors program, nationally recognized for its excellence. The approximately 350 students in the program consistently bring home top honors on both coasts as well as internationally. While participating in the program, students complete their Scholar with Distinction or Scholar with Honors requirements in World Geography, World History, U.S. History, Government, and Economics.
This will be one of the most challenging and rewarding classes taken by high school students and will greatly enhance applications when pursuing higher education.
